The Destination

Milan

Hold onto your hats – the Italian Grand Prix weekend is not for the faint hearted. Hosted at the extremely historic Monza circuit based just outside of MIlan, the Scuderia Ferrari’s home delivers on all fronts. Built in 1922, this is one of the most iconic tracks for any Formula One fan to pay a visit to, with memories of yesteryear coursing through the veins of 11 wonderfully created corners and a stunning straight which helps to produce the highest average lap speeds of the season. The track itself offers fans some of the best viewpoints in the sport, and is home to thousands of the most passionate supporters who make for an electric atmosphere. A trip to Monza simply won’t be forgotten.

As for Milan itself, cultural elegance and culinary excellence in are available in abundance. The capital city is Italy’s most modern offering, managing to retain pride in its fascinating history whilst also leading the way as one of Europe’s most dynamic spaces for new technology and business. The flag of fashion also flies proudly here, with giants clothing and design industries housing themselves in Milanese streets as testament to centuries of pioneering.

Visitors have plenty to see; most notably the Duomo Gothic Cathedral. One of the largest churches on the planet, this masterpiece is the result of over 600 years of exquisite construction, with the most intimate details crafted to quite stunning perfection. With over 3,400 statues in total, the interior is as breathtaking as the outside. Another must-see is the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie, home to Leonardo da Vinci’s most famous work – “The Last Supper”. Visitors should book in advance if they wish to catch a glimpse of this iconic painting in the flesh. Over half a millennium old, the artwork has taken some damage over the years but is still in a remarkable state all things considered.

Top Grandstand Pick

Parabolica – Situated on the last bend before the home straight, this is a very lively stand on the right hand side of the track as the cars roar round the bend to approach the final straight at break-neck speeds.
